When we first heard about it, the first thought we had was that, logically, this could only be a very bad thing for humanity as a whole. Now, as a website, we can not condemn technological advancements. As with any tool, it has the potential to both harm and enhance humanity, and in many cases it can do both simultaneously!
But there is an old expression:
Having AI ultimately means a loss of skills by the means of automation and standardization. One of the reasons many were against the Industrial Revolution was because they knew it was the end of the Cobbler, the Milliner, the Smith, the Plummer, the Carpenter, the Seamstress, the Tailor, and so on. There are an endless number of skilled arts that have been lost to the machines of industry. The innovation and passion for what were once carefully crafted products has been reduced to monetary based decisions fuelled by rampant consumerism. Skills that had taken generations to master, and would take generations to rebuild, have now been replaced with convenient, low quality, disposable alternatives.
We chose to have a series of conversations, not to feed the beast, but to learn more about it. To see what type of information this system has been fed so far.
The AI system is basically a series of algorithms. With this in mind, we will explore the functions of each one and how it operates. We will also look at how the different algorithms combine together, and how this combination can create new information and how that can be computed. We see this as a good opportunity to explore how the systems react to different types of questions and to also explore the inner workings of its core programming. And who knows, along the way we might just be able to feed the system with some alternative information or at least challenge the data it has been fed so far.
